If You Like ‘Oppenheimer’ Then Add These To Your TBR
If you know Christopher Nolan’s work, then you know he is someone that likes to take a look inside the mind of his characters. He creates complex moral or ethical dilemmas without any concrete answers but instead focuses on the thought process of his characters. There are always grey areas in his films when it comes to crime, trauma, space, and time. The creation of the atomic bomb definitely had some lasting effects on the man who created it. J. Robert Oppenheimer. The book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin explores the nature of his decision. The only filmmaker that could truly capture the internal struggle of Oppenheimer is Nolan.

MBC has had such wonderful discussions about this series so far. Garrett has interviewed Pierce Brown, and our members gave such insightful questions. Three more books are in this series, with the sixth book, Light Bringer, expected to release on July 25th.
Fortunately for Pierce Brown fans, otherwise known as “Howlers”, he is starting his book tour at SDCC on July 20th!

One Last Stop is a 2021 LGBT romance novel written by American author Casey McQuiston. The novel is about a woman named August Landry, a cynical pseudo detective, who finds love in a woman she meets on a subway named Jane Su, a punk Lesbian from the 1970s who has been misplaced in time and is trapped on the subway.

Book of the Month Preview: ‘Morning Star’ By Pierce Brown
Maude Garrett has been raving about Red Rising, and our book club members have loved the second book, Golden Son. This month we head back into the universe created by Pierce Brown with Morning Star, the third book in the series. It was the winner of Best Science Fiction in 2016.

Any book that we read can take us on an adventure. And each genre can take readers on a ride of great imaginative proportions. There are some adventures that have stayed with readers over time because of how lost you become in their world. Stories that are filled with adventure can cross genres and that’s the beauty of storytelling. Some can be science-fiction others can be fantasy, and you can always find those recommendations here at MBC.
