Asian and Pacific Islander Authors to Add to Your Insta-Buy List

The month of May is observed as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Americans recognize the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

What better way to highlight AAPI culture and heritage than through wonderful stories and well-written characters? The authors below have all created unique stories that explore romance, fantasy, sci-fi and many other genres.

When Emiko is not writing, she is reading. Most of her friends are imaginary. Before she became a writer, she was an entomologist, a candle maker, a florist, and also a teacher. Author Celeste Ng

Celeste grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Shaker Heights, Ohio. She graduated from Harvard University and earned an MFA from the University of Michigan. She is the author of three novels, Everything I Never Told You, Little Fires Everywhere, and Our Missing Hearts.


Kevin Kwan is the author of Crazy Rich Asians, the international bestselling novel that has been translated into more than 30 languages. Its sequel, China Rich Girlfriends, was released in 2015, and Rich People Problems, the final book in the trilogy, followed in 2017. In 2018, Kevin was named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.


Aravind Adiga was born in India in 1974, and educated in India and Australia. Since 2000, he has worked as a journalist, first as a financial correspondent in New York, then returning to India in 2003 to work for TIME Magazine. His debut novel, The White Tiger, was published in 2008 and won the Man Booker Prize for Fiction.
