June 6th, 2023 New Releases

A new month means new books! On June 6th there’s a variety of romance and historical fiction to choose from.

There are books from new authors, second books from acclaimed authors, and stories you may seem interested in just by the synopsis. Here at Maude’s Book Club, we want our community to broaden their horizons and try new genres!

Here are the new books being released the first week of June.

June 6th

Paris, 1939: Young mothers Elise and Juliette become fast friends the day they meet in the beautiful Bois de Boulogne. Though there is a shadow of war creeping across Europe, neither woman suspects that their lives are about to irrevocably change.

Titus Crowne is the first Black sheriff in the history of Charon County. A former FBI agent and security expert, Titus came home to take care of his father and look out for his troubled younger brother. He ran for Sheriff to make a difference, especially in the Black community, which has so often been treated unfairly by police.

From a young age, Yunxian learns about women's illnesses, many of which relate to childbearing, alongside a young midwife-in-training, Meiling. The two girls find a fast friendship. But when Yunxian is sent into an arranged marriage, her mother-in-law forbids her from seeing Meiling and from helping the women and girls in the household.

Cassandra in Reverse by Holly Smale

Cassandra Penelope Dankworth is a creature of habit. She likes what she likes (museums, jumpsuits, her boyfriend, Will) and strongly dislike what she doesn't (mess, change, her boss drinking out of her mug). Her life runs in a pleasing, predictable order...until now. Cassie discovered she can go back and change the past.

Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan

Sam's life is on track. She has the perfect doctor fiancé, Jack (his strict routines are a good thing, really), and a great job in Manhattan (unless they fire her), and is about to tour a wedding venue near her family's Long Island beach house. Everything should go to plan, yet the minute she arrives, Sam senses something is off. Wyatt is here. Her Wyatt.

We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian

Nick Russo has worked his way from a rough Brooklyn neighbourhood to a reporting job at one of the city's biggest newspapers. But the late 1950s are a hostile time for gay men, and Nick knows that he can't let anyone into his life. He just never counted on meeting someone as impossible to say no to as Andy.

Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey

After losing her job and her fiancé in one fell swoop, Natalie Vos returned home to lick her wounds. A few months later, she's sufficiently drowned her sorrows in cabernet and she's ready to get back on her feet. She just needs her trust fund to finance her new business venture. Is Natalie desperate enough to propose to a man who makes her want to kill him -- and kiss him, in equal measure?

The Wind Knows My Name by Isabel Allende

Vienna, 1938. Samuel Adler was six years old when his father disappeared during Kristallnacht - the night their family lost everything. Samuel's mother secured a spot for him on the last Kindertransport train out of Nazi-occupied Austria to the United Kingdom, which he boarded alone, carrying nothing but a change of clothes and his violin.
