His books have been adapted numerous times; some adaptations are good, and some are bad. His book Pet Sematary, which is deemed one of his best has been adapted once again for Paramount Plus.

For years, the film and the novel have been highly regarded as the best of the horror genre. The people who were old enough to read the book and watch the film still talk about the frenzy in the 70s. Everyone was traumatized by The Exorcist.
The film and the book paved the way for horror writers to tell their stories and spook many new audiences for generations. The newest addition to The Exorcist world is The Exorcist: Believer. A film meant to reintroduce new audiences to the work of William Peter Blatty and William Friedkin.

Maude’s Book Club wrapped up Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, and the entire community LOVED reading it together. Yes, it’s a bit spicy, but it is a Romantasy novel that everyone can enjoy. Who doesn’t love dragons, special powers, and enemies-to-lovers?

In 2021 Amazon Prime released the first season of The Wheel of Time. The series is set in a high fantasy world where magic exists, but only some can access it. The series is adapted from the novels written by Robert Jordan. And after his passing, Brandon Sanderson continued the series. There are roughly 14 books in the series with other spin-offs and reference books to dive into.
Here at MBC, we have been obsessed with fantasy novels for years and The Wheel of Time is one of Maude Garrett’s favourite series on Amazon Prime!

Sir Kenneth Branagh has returned with another Agatha Christie adaptation. A Haunting in Venice is based on the novel Hallowe’en Party. Branagh enjoys his mystery thrillers after his success with Murder on the Orient Express. He wanted to draw from the genius of Christie by presenting her work to the world on the big screen. According to Branagh, this film is a sequel to Death on the Nile and will have supernatural elements similar to the book.

Alice Oseman’s graphic novel Heartstopper feels like a warm hug. Those who have read all the books in the series know how Nick and Charlie’s story will end. The Netflix series is doing incredibly well on the platform and season two is out now for everyone to enjoy. Nick and Charlie’s romantic relationship is beautiful as the series explores sexual identity, romantic relationships and friendship. From graphic novels to small screen this television series is one of the best adaptations.
