If You Like ‘Mean Girls’ Add These To Your TBR
Tina Fey adapted Queen Bees and Wannabees by Rosalind Wiseman for the original script. The parenting and adolescent self-help book breaks down the cliques in high school and how damaging the notion of popularity can be. Girls go through so much in “Girl World,” and Fey was able to highlight all of that in Mean Girls. Everyone feels seen in that film, and that’s why it will always have a place in the zeitgeist.

The 10 Books To Kick-Off Your Year
At MBC, we have created a strong community for everyone to feel comfortable seeking support. We want everyone to feel safe enough to share what’s on their mind, even if it’s not about books. Maude has read some of the self-help books on this list and will recommend them to anyone.

‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ Courts Breakdown
We know that Fantasy readers LOVE maps. Any map found when opening a book for the first time fills our hearts with joy. It draws the reader directly into the world and gives much-needed structure in visualizing where these characters reside. The map in A Court of Thorns and Roses shows where all the Faes live and the breakdown of the Courts.

‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ Character Breakdown
Maude’s Book Club will FINALLY dive into A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. There will be a total of six books in the series. There is a long list of characters in each court. But Maas breaks down all the courts so well. The world-building is possibly the best aspect of the series because of what Maas created.
The main characters of Tamlin, Rhysand and Feyre keep readers invested in the story and have become household names for Fantasy readers. MBC is thrilled to have these characters in January! And for those reading it for the first time, we’re hoping that our community members would want to continue the series!

Maude’s Book Club 2024 First Third OF THE YEAR selections
Maude’s Book Club launched at the beginning of this year, and our 2023 slate was filled with wonderful books. Over the past year, the MBC community has voted on the books we wanted to read, most of which have been winners!
For the first four months of the year, Maude Garrett and book club members have chosen the novels sitting on their TBR. If you are an ACOTAR fan, missed Divine Rivals this year, want to start an R.F. Kuang novel or return to sci-fi with Andy Weir, you should come and join us in 2024!

If You Like ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Add These To Your TBR
We have a new Percy Jackson series now streaming on Disney Plus!!
Fans of the book series have waited an incredibly long time for Rick Riordan’s series to have a good adaptation and it’s finally here. The film adaptation was released in 2010 with Logan Lerman portraying Percy Jackson, but the time of the release wasn’t the strongest. It had to fight alongside Harry Potter and Twilight, which were franchises pretty well-established. There were only two films released and the Percy Jackson fandom had more books to look forward to!
Now on Disney Plus, there will be new episodes streaming every Tuesday and the fans will have their golden trio on screen again. Walker Scobell, Leah Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri are all incredible in their respective roles.
